  Relaxed, lovely stay in Barbados

  Lovely week stay at the Club Barbados. Booked this hotel as we stayed at Elites other resort in Antigua last year and loved it there so wanted to try another hotel within the group. The resort is in a great location called Holetown. You can walk straight down a main road to Holetown where there are designer and gift shops, bars cafes and restaurants. The walk is easy and safe, taking around 10-15 minutes. The rooms were fine, clean and spacious enough with a fridge, air con, TV and coffee station. We were in room 337, garden view, which was a really nice location near the front of the hotel. There are reviews about the noise from other rooms but we didn’t hear anything from ours, even though we were behind the piano bar which is open late it was very quiet. There are two restaurants, Sunset and Enid’s. Sunset is where breakfast, lunch and dinner is and Enids is open for dinner, which does amazing Bajan food - both can be booked at breakfast for dinner the same night and the day after. Food was very good and different to other all inclusive hotels as it was à la carte for dinner (breakfast and lunch was the usual buffet) which was a nice change. There were great options, and as I was travelling with a vegetarian, they had no issue as there were veggie options. There is also a food truck on the beach that does great food for lunch, we loved the veggie burger! Drink menu was really good, I liked the Club Slammer cocktail but the bar staff can make any cocktail you want and also have bottles and pints of local beers. Next to the bar there is also a coffee shop and cakes. Not sure why there are reviews regarding the staff being unfriendly or unhappy as that is not the case, every member of staff was friendly, hospitable and always happy to help. Maybe the people writing those reviews didn’t show respect or had too high, over the top expectations but ignore the negativity.

  Lovely relaxing scenic holiday

  We had an amazing time here the staff were friendly the rooms were adequate the entertainment was good ,the snorkeling was great and the whole experience was brilliant, even the monkeys visiting.would highly recommend going to the harbour light's for a great night out.

  Disappointing return

  This establishment was the original Almond Beach Resort replaced by ‘The Club Barbados‘ but is disappointing . Having visited many years ago it still needs updating in various areas . The disorganisation in the dining area and kitchen whereby you are constantly waiting for replenishments and even crockery, is a pain and should be visually supervised, particularly at the busiest times. The majority of staff work hard and are very pleasant. The brochure is inaccurate . There are no dress requirements even for the evening meal bathing attire was accepted. Guests dive in and take alcohol whilst in the pools as there is no supervision , an accident waiting to happen. However there is a nice relaxing grass area with plenty of sun beds, and the welcoming and helpful reception staff are exceptional.

  Paradise Found

  CB We have just coming to the end of two wonderfully relaxing weeks at Club Barbados. When I read some of the more negative comments about this hotel, I think we must have stayed in different places. The hotel’s facilities are excellent; the three pools are lovely with lots of comfortable sun beds and shades. There are also beds in the beautiful gardens and on the beach area. All areas are well cared for and well maintained. The hotel’s beach was washed away by erosion but they have created a sandy area underneath trees overlooking the water and you still have direct access to the water which is crystal clear and shallow for quite a way out. There is excellent snorkelling just off shore. The water sports team are really helpful and there is a good range of activities. The gym is small but well equipped and the treatments at the spa are excellent. Margaret gives a world class massage. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the balconies large and shady. We found the housekeeping team to be helpful and cheery and our room was kept beautifully clean. The food is excellent with a good range of choice and alternating between buffet and A La carte ; the restaurant staff are warm and friendly and do their best. We didn’t encounter anyone who was anything less than warm and welcoming. We never had to queue for either food or to get into the restaurant. The hotel’s location is brilliant, a comfortable walk into Holetown and bus stops close to the hotel giving access to the rest of the island. We would recommend taking the local yellow buses which are huge fun. Again people were great at giving us directions and making sure we knew where we were going. The hotel has a very chilled country club atmosphere but if you are looking for modern, plate glass, sterile, luxury, this isn’t the place for you. If you want to genuinely engage with people who have pride in what they do, love their island and want to share it, then kick off your shoes, go with the flow and embrace everything this hotel offers. We are just about to book our return trip which we hope will be the first of many more over rge coming years.
