  Perfection

  I probably been to about a dozen or so secrets resorts over the last 20 years. Secrets Akumal is the most well rounded, consistent and polished experience. The property has a fantastic beach and a fantastic pool whereas most other secrets properties, you need to pick one or the other. Huge shout out to FRANCISCO at the relaxing pool! This man made our trip extra special. I hope management sees this and gives him some sort of promotion or bonus because of the hundreds of Secrets employees I've interacted with over the last two decades, Francisco is the type of employee that keeps these kind of resorts five stars. Hyatt/AMR needs to model off of him across every resort. Truly a Phenomenal human!

  Lovely vacation + pool chair frustration

  We had a wonderful time at Secrets Akumal but honestly this was a 4 star situation, not 5. After reading all the reviews, I expected that this resort would be heaven on earth. It was lovely and certainly met our expectations, however there are a few things that were less than ideal. First - the relentless need for the early morning scramble for pool chairs. Could you squeeze more chairs in? Maybe create more rows? Getting up early to get a place to sit and relax is the exact opposite of relaxing. This was super disappointing. Second, if you are a beach person, this is not your place, there are far better choices. Enough said here. It's fine, but nothing great. Finally, the swim out room was not worth it at this resort. There was no sun, no lounge chairs, thus we paid for an upgrade that we didn't use. Now, on to what was amazing. The people. They were absolutely incredible. From the guide on the bike tour, the massage therapist, the waiters, bartenders and all the staff, they could not have been more pleasant and welcoming. They were the true highlight. Oscar, Max, Alejandro and Andrea on the Entertainment team - you all made us feel right at home. Antonio, the pool concierge, was our favorite - always there with a smile and happy to help with anything we needed. The restaurants and food were terrific. The specialty restaurants offered delicious food choices and delightful dining experiences. Our favorites were Portofino and Bordeaux. The Coco Cafe, Seaside Grill and Market Cafe always had just what we wanted. There is truly something for everyone. The turtle experience was the highlight of the trip. We met up with Victor on the beach and he matched us with Ari who was our guide for just two of us. Ari was outstanding and took a bunch of pictures with his GoPro and sent them to me on WhatsApp. He took us way beyond where the turtles feed to the reef and we spent more time than an typical "tour" so we tipped him accordingly. FIND Victor and REQUEST Ari. I did the bike tour and really enjoyed seeing a little bit of the area outside of the resort. Also the spa was one of the best I have been to at a resort or at home. We loved that there was a lot to do, but you could also do nothing. You could choose your own adventure each day. As many people have said, the grounds are stunningly beautiful. We aren't big drinkers, night club or evening show people so I cannot comment on that. Also, we did not even see the time share people, so were not bothered by them. It was a great vacation and I would recommend Secrets Akumal. The biggest frustration was the early wake up, walk from building 9 to get pool chairs, waiting there to be relieved by my husband so I could grab coffee, then we would take turns holding down the fort at the chairs because if we both left for an activity we'd come back and all the chairs would be gone. NOT the way I prefer to spend vacation. Please figure this out, get more chairs or don't sell all the rooms so there is room for everyone.

  Secrets Akumal

  Everything from arrival to departure was exceptional. The staff was outstanding, especially our concierge Annie. Eliazar at the market cafe made sure we had anything we wanted and was very attentive. Everyone on the staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We had a fantastic time!!

  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Incredible Experience – Best Resort We’ve Ever Been To

  From the moment we arrived at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya, we were completely blown away. The resort is truly stunning—crystal-clear turquoise water, a beautiful white-sand beach, and such a peaceful, luxurious atmosphere. Everything feels calm, elegant, and perfectly maintained. It is honestly the best resort we’ve ever been to. The food was exceptional—easily one of the highlights of our stay. Every restaurant we tried was consistently delicious, with high-quality ingredients, great presentation, and amazing variety. You can really tell they put effort into every dining experience. The service across the entire resort was outstanding. Karen, our concierge, was incredibly helpful and made sure everything was taken care of for us. Nanci kept our room spotless all week—always fresh, clean, and welcoming. In the Premium Lounge, Noe, Hugo, and Bernardo provided amazing service. They were attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly taken care of every time we visited. A special thank you to the spa team—Lucila, Tere, and Perla—for such a relaxing and professional experience. Maria at the coffee shop was always kind and welcoming, and Vivi, the 9am personal trainer, brought such great energy to every session. Every detail of this resort—from the service, to the food, to the overall experience—was absolutely top level. We give this resort 5 stars and truly loved every part of our stay. We will definitely be back
