  Run To Paradise

  As a travel agent, I’ve been to a lot of properties in Puerto Rico, but I keep coming back to San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. It’s easily one of my favorites, especially for families. First off, you really can’t beat the location. You are right on the beach, no shuttles, no long walks. Chairs and umbrellas are set up, and it just makes everything feel easy. Exactly what you want on vacation. The pool setup is a huge win, especially with kids. There are two big pools: One is only about 2.5 feet deep, which was amazing for my kid who isn’t a strong swimmer. Total peace of mind, and they basically lived in that pool the entire trip. The second pool has a swim-up bar and a water slide, and the kids were obsessed with the slide. The rooms are super comfortable, and if you get a balcony, the views are beautiful, perfect for morning coffee or just winding down at night. Food-wise, it’s what you’d expect from a Marriott. A little pricey, but solid: There’s actually really good sushi in the lobby, which was a nice surprise. The breakfast buffet is big and has a ton of options, but it’s around $45 per adult (kids are less). If you have status with Marriott Bonvoy, you might get that included. There’s also a little bakery/coffee spot in the lobby, convenient, but also not cheap. One thing I really loved is how much they do for kids. There are activities going on all day, popcorn, snow cones, relay races, sandcastle building, even clay molding. Plus free bike rentals, and tennis/pickleball courts if you want to stay active. The location is also perfect. You walk outside and there are tons of restaurants, breakfast spots, and even a Walgreens right there if you need anything. And getting to Old San Juan is super easy, about a 10–15 minute Uber. Bottom line: it’s just an easy, fun, no-stress resort that works really well for families but is still great for adults too. I recommend it all the time, and I’d go back in a heartbeat.

  Mediocre & Overpriced Hotel

  The lobby and common areas were beautifully maintained, and both the pool and beach areas were very enjoyable. I stayed in an oceanfront king room—while the view was absolutely stunning, the room itself was quite small. The bathroom was especially tight, with the shower, toilet, and sink all very close together, making it difficult to move around comfortably. The hotel does offer larger king rooms, and if space is important to you, I would recommend upgrading if your budget allows. Unfortunately, our floor had a noticeable odor from the carpet. It appeared they had recently shampooed it, but the smell seemed to worsen, and there were blowers running to dry the carpet. The website mentions fully renovated rooms in the main tower, but that wasn’t reflected in our experience. Given the price point, the rooms felt outdated and in need of another renovation to meet expectations. On a positive note, the staff were consistently helpful, friendly, and welcoming—especially in the lobby and at the beach, where they quickly assisted us with chairs, towels, and an umbrella. The hotel is also conveniently located near restaurants, shops, and other attractions, which made getting around very easy.

  Solid but smelly.

  Lobby and common areas nice. Enjoyed bingo and pool waiter service. Room while updated smells like mildew and was a complaint of multiple guests.

  Won't be going back.

  I don't know why we saw so many great reviews for this hotel - so many that we decided to stay there after researching all the other hotels in San Juan. Very average mediocre hotel with nothing special. The pools and slide we disappointing and a little weirdly built. The slide is old and uncomfortable to go down (and isn't open all the time. The reception has a bar that probably is visited by people outside the hotel and so is loud and not very pleasant. Food is not very good. Overall - not impressed and wouldn't go back again.

  Way over priced for way too little

  They charge a resort fee of week over$100 per day. I'm sure i could argue about it, but when you arrive at 9pm and the band in the lobby makes it impossible to hear, that's very difficult. We ordered 3 sandwiches and a bottle of mid grade wine at the only open food venue at 9pm on a Friday night. It took over 75 minutes, and they didn't activate the pager they'd given us. Our child was sleeping in the lobby and our food was cold to the point that half of it was inedible, all while we day about 20 feet away. For 3 people to grab a "snack" after 16 hours of traveling a bill of over$150 for cold food is pretty disappointing. Tried reaching out to them via the app before posting to see if they'd try to make it right, got ignored.
