We booked this stay with Royalton as a family of 8 (our 4 teens and parents). Our Butler Ryan was fantastic at meeting our needs, making our dinner reservations so we could eat together and just overall very attentive to making sure our stay was the best he could make it. We had 3 birthdays during our trip and he was so helpful booking a special dinner and decorated the rooms doors for us. We’ve never stayed with Royalton before so we weren’t sure what to expect with Butler service but Ryan exceeded our expectations.

Let's start with the good : 1. The staff. Overall I found the staff to be wonderful. A few grumps but mostly they were happy and engaging and did well to show off the passion and hard working nature of the Dominican people. Well done all. Thank you! 2. The grounds were clean and tidy. 3. There was enough to do on site to keep one occupied for a week long stay. Something for everyone. 4. Rooms were big, a little run down but all in all were comfortable and well cleaned/stocked every day. 5. The Grazie lunch time pizza window! Delicious, and of a style I always enjoy. 6. Scoops for the "screw it I'm on vacation" sweet tooth indulgences. Yum! 7. The Hibachi restaurant. Was lots of fun and that food was fresh and edible. "Yummy Yummy" 8. I'm not a party guy, but I know the parties were going to all hours of the night however I wasn't interrupted once by it. Things are nicely segregated. The bad : 1. The rest of the food was inedible. By the end of the week my stomach turned from the smell if I walked near the buffet. I was relegated to a couple fried eggs and toast each day. I've been on many all inclusives and this food was the worst I've ever encountered. I'm prepared to own some of this from perhaps being picky, but I just didn't trust the set up, the presentation and the selection was bland and visually offputting. 2. Those dang sand fleas are for real. I left covered in welts. Take precaution! For what this trip was about, everyone enjoyed themselves and the wonderful Dominican weather. However, I probably won't be back.

The Royalton Bávaro is the worst hotel I’ve been to in my life. Our stay at Royalton Bávaro (Feb 23–27) was extremely disappointing. We paid extra for a swim‑out room and immediately discovered a ceiling leak in the room, along with visible mold. Despite repeated reports via the app, phone calls, and multiple trips to the front desk, nothing was fixed. We were told maintenance would come the next day, but no one ever showed. App messages even claimed the issue was “resolved” when it clearly wasn’t. Attempts to reach a manager or supervisor went nowhere, and a formal complaint filed before checkout was never acknowledged—nor was the issue mentioned at checkout. Customer service throughout the stay was dismissive and unhelpful. On our final day, an employee rudely stopped us from finishing miniature golf despite delays caused by other guests. As a long‑time Marriott customer, this experience was shocking. Serious health, safety, and service failures. I would not recommend this property.

Blissful Escape
The location and atmosphere at Royalton Bavaro are absolutely stunning. From the moment you arrive, it’s easy to relax and leave your worries behind. If you’re considering a stay, upgrading to the Diamond Club is well worth it. The added level of service truly elevates the experience. Our butler, Wilkins Astacio, went above and beyond in taking care of us and the friends traveling with us. Any minor hiccups we encountered were handled quickly and seamlessly, allowing us to fully enjoy our time without stress. Wilkins even arranged to have our room moved to a better location after we experienced a couple of small issues with the original one. That level of attention and care made a noticeable difference in our stay. If you’re already planning the trip, it’s worth investing a little more to go Diamond Club—you won’t regret it.

Staff stole credit cards from room
I had two credit cards stolen from my wallet while left in the room. They attempted to make around $2,000 in charges.
