Riu Tequila was created with attention to decor, beautiful gardens, and wonderful pool areas, and takes the limelight when it comes to affordability and family-friendly concepts! Located across the road from the Riu Yucatan and Riu Playacar, it shares exchange facilities so guests can also enjoy the nonstop entertainment at two more RIU Resorts. Just a short distance from the beach, a trolley winds through gardens past a raised gazebo bar to the beach club.
Old Mexico is featured throughout Riu Tequila. The lobby mimics a small village with grand pillars, arches, iron lanterns, and ceilings painted in swirls and decorated with mosaics. A trolley winds through lush tropical gardens past a raised gazebo bar in a courtyard and down to the beach club. The pool area is Hawaiian-style with boulders and waterfalls. Great carved doors open to the main restaurant, Jalisco, in early Mexican style with international buffets. The informal Lupita Restaurant offers poolside snacks.
This family-friendly resort offers a great vacation value, from live entertainment to an array of sports including non-motorized watersports. Kids will be entertained in the RiuLand Mini-Club and enjoy the playground and supervised activities. Adults can enjoy the nightlife at the popular La Pinata Disco with guests of the other Riviera Maya Riu Resorts. Complimentary 24-hour WiFi is also available in the common areas of the resort (available in rooms for an additional charge).
Accommodations are comfortable and have features such as a fully-stocked mini-bar and liquor dispenser. Junior suites with a living area are available, perfect for a little extra room.

My favourite resort! Small, easy to get to things on foot. This was our 4th time here. We r pool people, however the beach is close if we wanted to go. Returned after 3 years…many of the dinning staff were the same. They r friendly, efficient and professional! We returned to this resort truly because of the staff, sun and cleanliness. The food is good. They could add more variety to dinner buffet. The entertainment is good HOWEVER they need to change it from year to year. The rooms are clean with great water pressure in the shower! They are a good size with a balcony. They are standard, and for those of us who are not in the room often, they r adequate. We stayed 10 days this time. Having been to 10+ other Mexican resorts, this resort feels FUN, relaxed and i said to my husband. “It feels like home.”

The first time at the Riu Tequila.
Just returned today (31/05/2026) after 2 weeks at this hotel for the first time with my wife Barbara and friends Duncan and Karen. While we were there we made friends with some really nice people and had a fantastic time would we go back yes. The staff in the hotel were so friendly as was the bar staff at the swimming pool we sunbathed at every day also the staff in the main dining hall. The guy that cleaned our room and changed our towels every day did a first class job.

OUTSTANDING
Not long back from this hotel and it was absolutely brilliant! Big shout out to emanuel, polo and cruise they made our holiday. We have been here 4 times now and it gets better and better

Great hotel
Great stay at Rui tequila. We were in block at back by children’s pool nice and quiet. Every member of staff at hotel so friendly . Pools great and lots activities on in pool . We avoided adults swim up bar pool water wasn’t clean but easy to stay away and sit by other two pools. Visited Asian restaurant, Italians and steakhouse. You can visit as many times you want and dont need book. Italian really nice. Golf buggy to beach has very friendly driver and we had lunch at restaurant over looking beach this part of Riu tequila package. Bigger choice food there than main hotel for lunch . Would definitely visit hotel again.

Amazing First Time
We had the best 9 days staying at Hotel RIU Tequila! The staff were all super friendly and always happy to help. Our room was cleaned every single day and the mini fridge was restocked every 2 days, although you can easily request more through the app which was really convenient. The buffet dinner was amazing with so much choice every night, but our absolute favourite was the steak restaurant! We loved it so much we went twice during our stay! We also loved the Mexican restaurant down by the beach too. Overall, we had an incredible first holiday too Mexico and would definitely return. Highly recommend!
