The entertainers in this hotel are brilliant especially Nicholas, Demarco, Nahzi, Damo, Gabby and Bubbles. Big shout out to Nicholas for making us feel very welcome on our stay. Very polite and kind young man. The food is great. We had a good time however this is a few issues that could be sorted for the guests. All in all the entertainment team make it a worthwhile stay. A massive thank you to Nicholas who is just lovely!

Riu reggae
Riu reggae is an ok place to go resort wise. However we come across a lot of problems on the resort. Constantly being harassed by the security team regarding our own music and no smoking on the beach however there has been no signs put up. The entertainment team are great however the management towards them is not very nice. They are working endless hours and do not get showed that appreciation at all for how hard they work. However the bar staff Akerm, Michelle and Marlene is brilliant. The food is also great. It’s a shame about the management in this hotel.

Not 5 star - very disappointing
Disappointing and underwhelming, definitely not 5 star, no extractor fan in bathroom so walls and floor covered in steam/water - not safe, the mould wasn't pleasant either. Cracked charging socket in room, had to ask for a chair for the balcony, seeing as it was a couples room and only one chair on the balcony was rather strange. Majority of staff were brilliant (especially Denise who sorted out room out), unless you used reception, asked for more bottled water and got the rolling eyes and huffing. Speciality restaurants were good however if you wanted a "hot" meal from the buffet get there at opening time and it might even be warm. Worst part was being pestered every day to buy the waccie baccie , even been shouted at to buy it when sat on the balcony. No sign of Tui rep on the last day when there was a mess up with the buses taking us to the airport! The Thing rep in store said this was the quiet hotel compared to the other RIU party property next door - she was so wrong. My 5 star expectation wasn't met, due to the state of our room which we paid extra for to have a sea view. Maybe Jamaican 5 star is not the same as UK 5 star. We will definitely NOT be returning.

May 29, 2026Amazing time in Jamaica 2026
Me and my fiancé stayed at the Riu Reggae for two weeks in May and we had an amazing time. The hotel is lovely and clean, we were welcomed on arrival with a glass of rum punch each and was quickly checked in. The room was lovely and clean, fully stocked up mini bar every two days. The hotel staff couldn’t do more for you, they are very friendly and also have a smile on their faces. The restaurants were very good, great selection of foods, something for everyone. We loved the bamboo restaurant was so nice and the A La carte. One let down was steak house as steak was very fatty and full of grease. Great selection of cocktails and were full of flavour all the time big shout out to Marlene and Winston bar staff The entertainers are fabulous especially teddy aka mr pineapple, bubbles, nahzie, always making everyone laugh and have a great time. My only downside to this hotel was the Americans and Canadians are very loud and disrespectful around the pool areas and of a night time when people are trying to sleep, I do not expect to be woken up at 4:30am in the morning to screaming girls in the corridors and banging on doors.

Amazing would love to go back
Amazing hotel and staff, I went for my birthday with my fiancé for our first Caribbean experience. We chose Rui reggae based on the reviews and wasn’t disappointed. The room was clean and spacious and the mini bar well stocked. The food was good at the restaurants and a nice relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. We also chose Richard’s jamaica tours for our transport whilst on the island, also based on reviews. He was amazing, friendly and very helpful. He picked us up from the airport, arranged and transported us to all of our excursions at very reasonable prices and made the whole experience very enjoyable. Thank you Rui and Richards Jamaica tours for making our dreams come true!!❤️
