Apr 22, 2026Wonderful hotel, staff and weather
We have been here for 9 days - leaving tomorrow. Beautiful location and close to the airport. Very relaxed atmosphere generally. Plenty of music and fun for people that want that. Room’s excellent. Cleaning staff amazing. Can be noisy with music and activities in the afternoons but nothing over the top. staff are amazing. Always willing to help, laughing and friendly. Did come across one grumpy member of the bar staff one day but everyone has a bad day so not a problem. Plenty to do during the day. We didn’t go to the evening entertainment but it sounded good. Alcohol used is the proper stuff eg Smirnoff. Food great. Caters for everyone. Taxis always available at the hotel and free taxi ride the the “village” where there are gift shops, a pharmacy and food places. Only downside is the restrictions on smoking but that seems to be the whole of Jamaica and not just at the hotel. Specific areas on beach, round pool and in seating areas that you can smoke or vape. We have had a wonderful time and would highly recommend the Rui reggae.

Great trip - two minor issues
Had a brilliant holiday tempered with a couple of issues that didn't spoil our trip but couldn't go unnoticed. The hotel is adults only and we took our two adult sons and we requested a room with twin beds that was near ours because both are on the autistic spectrum. They allocated us two rooms near each other but only with king beds - completely ignored the request or to do anything about it. Second issue - 24 hours without full electricity in the room - all it needed was a change of an appliance as the fridge was shorting out but they had to come three or four times to sort it and we were without AC. Now the positives - the food was great - no negatives, lots of choice, great staff (Kedisha, Terry Ann and Khadijah stand out). The entertainment team are great, massively talented and lovely people (Rhi Rhi, DeMarco, Bubbles take a bow). The bar staff are magnificent - Romaine, Rodgeroy and Akeem. The weather was also terrific - all great, and going back!!

For the price this hotel offers great value, the food, staff and entertainment were all very good. Don’t be put off by the negative reviews.

Honest from the heart
I’m going to be very honest and add a few names of people who do the most: I stayed at RIU reggae for just under 2 weeks. The rooms are super clean and the cleaners keep the hotel looking fantastic. Every staff member does there bit to help keep it clean. Location wise the hotel is minutes away from the airport which is ideal. The drivers that take you from the airport to the hotel are so warm and friendly. The atmosphere at the hotel is on point. You do get a lot of sales men on the beach trying to sell you everything known to man and that can be annoying, however they are only trying to make a buck. During breakfast and lunch we had a sever called Terri Ann and if I could give this woman a medal I would, she’s absolutely amazing. Felisha who works on the pool bar has such a friendly smile and is amazing at her job. Please give these ladies all the love if you are ever luck enough to be served by them. Marlene and Winston who work the bar in the evening make me want to sit and enjoy having a wind down and watch the entertainment show. They skills and warmth and love of there job made us want to return to this hotel. Vickesha who is a chef has the warmest heart, again cannot fault this woman by far, always went out of the way to make sure the guests have what they want when they want it. Shanea who is on the front desk of the buffet area in the evening is again another staff member who not only should be promoted she’s just impeccable at her job. These are just a few of the staff that stood out for me, I want to say on behalf of my partner and me thank you for making me want to return, without you all I would not be planning a return. RIU please do thank your staff and praise them for all they do. Thank you RIU staff. X
