  6th visit to this hotel. Beautiful gardens, pool area and spectacularly clean everywhere. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Evening entertainment actually pretty enjoyable as well. This is not really a hotel for families or 20/30 year olds. The clientele is generally older and seeking peace and quiet. So if you want water aerobics, crazy golf etc this is NOT the hotel for you. A few minor negatives. I think the service poolside was a bit slow…not so much getting the order but actually making the order in the first place. I suspect usual problem of trying to get staff. Secondly it’s a bit old fashioned all the handwriting of orders by waiters etc….surely in this digital age could all be done electronically and therefore you can check you account as you go through each day. Finally a very large glass of wine and a bottle,of beer is about 10 quid which is by no means expensive compared to UK prices in a 5 star hotel.

  Room 656 on the side of the hotel.

  Hotel Riu Palace Tenerife. Excellent hotel. Very clean everywhere. A lady cleaning our room who we think was Victoria was absolutely brilliant. Food ok, plenty of choice. Plenty of sunbeds Entertainment was fairly good for a Spanish hotel. Maybe a bit out of the way for some people but that is what we liked about it. Got several taxis on nights out which the reception ordered for us. Prices varied from taxi to taxi. Ranging from 10 euros to 16 euros for the same place. Went to the Nightowl which was good if you like Northern Soul. Would try another Riu Palace in a different area. All in all a very clean spacious hotel.

  COCKROACHES!!!

  Cockroaches were present in the rooms, and unfortunately the issue was not handled appropriately by the reception staff. When we reported the problem, we received the response: "They live here, you know.", which we found completely inappropriate given the seriousness of the situation. As a "solution", a cleaner was sent during the night and sprayed a strong chemical product under the bed, leaving us to sleep in a room filled with an unpleasant smell. We were offered alternative rooms, but without any guarantee that the problem would not reoccur. In the end, we stayed in our original rooms and found cockroaches in both - under the beds and even crawling over personal cosmetic items, which significantly affected our sense of hygiene and comfort during the stay. For these reasons, I cannot recommend this hotel. I am especially disappointed with the way the complaint was handled afterward. Despite evidence and repeated attempts to reach an agreement regarding a partial refund (one room was practically unusable), no reasonable resolution was offered. In his last email, their representative, Christian Luc F., simply told me to contact Booking.com and even stated that this is "our final response regarding this claim".

  Lovely ‘fly & flop’ holiday

  Not a 5* hotel BUT a pleasant stay. What we liked: Spacious and clean rooms, food for a buffet style was good, beach front location, plenty of sun beds, great fly & flop hotel. Why not 5* (small details that we noticed, not a deal breaker for us): Charging for water at meals, sun bed wars, staff treating returning guests favourably versus equally for all guests was extremely noticeable. We had to request extra towel/ seating as we were a party of 3 (for 5*, they would have known ;-)). Oh & it’s true re: demographics! Older clientele for sure but more families over half term.

  Disappointed

  Checked in late at night and this is where the fun began. The room was as far away as possible , huge palm tree blocking the view and very sat and small, was changed next day and was given a choice of 2 rooms. Better! Advised we had missed dinner but a cold selection was available , no help etc just told where dining room Was. All good for first 3 days then guests started to arrive, lots of Children who dominated the pools and in the dining room there were no standards. Part of the grounds have been given to the adjacent hotel where they have their own infinity pool and beach , this is not a Palace and yet in my opinion have the better option here. Pool shorts and flip flops at dinner looked like just off the beach. The hotel informs you of the evening dress code. Went into dinner at 8.30’no tables set and staff busy setting up tables for breakfast. So in summary what was lovely hotel informs the past to say that the standards has slipped is an understatement.we are RIU regulars but till Stick with the Oasis Palace in Gran Canaria in the future. This holiday was a celebration but we are ready to go home
