Just steps from the shops and nightlife in Cancun, the adults-only (18+) Riu Palace Las Americas is the perfect place for an all-inclusive Cancun vacation. Step into a lobby that is beyond extravagant, with great columns rising to hand-painted domes in gold leaf and floral designs, a stained glass ceiling, Edwardian furniture in rich satin and extraordinary chandeliers.
All amenities are offered for the first-class traveler: a spa with a rooftop solarium and Jacuzzi, a lavish nightclub with live shows and entertainment, and high-end suites with luxurious furnishings. An infinity pool appears to flow into the turquoise sea framing a white sand beach. Activities include table tennis, volleyball, windsurfing, snorkeling, and more.
Hailed for excellent dining, there is a selection of five à la carteor grand buffet restaurants. Recently revamped menus now offer a wide range of cuisine and finer ingredients at the à la carte restaurants, as well as the incorporation of a vegetarian menu in all restaurants. Fine cuisine is served at Los Arcos Italian restaurant, Sakura Japanese restaurant, Tio Pepe Mexican restaurant, Krystal Fusion restaurant, and a Grill and steakhouse. Domestic and imported drinks are served 24-hours a day and the mini-bar and liquor dispenser in the rooms are restocked regularly.

It’s ok. Will try something different next time.
I called before booking and I was told that Any Rui Palace can go to the other hotels and use the amenities. No timeframe, no rules. 1. You can go to the other hotels but only until 5:00 pm. 2. Make sure you take a towel from the las americas hotel because the other hotels will NOT give you a towel. 3. Las Americas is an older hotel. 4. You have to check out to make sure you hand in the towel cards. Food: buffet is buffet. Breakfast is good. The Japanese restaurant is good. Make sure you check when the restaurants are closed.

Echo review by Rondell_13
I am completely agreeing with review by Rondell_13. Location, staff, food, general hotel areas brilliant, however, the rooms are very very tired and are in immediate need of refurbishment. The rooms are a great size but fixtures, fittings and furniture needs replacing. The balcony furniture is faded and worn out. The worst part of the room was the shower area. I think the only thing holding the shower roof up is the multiple layers of paint that have been used to hide the mould etc !!! Riu parties great, pool area nice but my partner and I stayed around the main pool as the other party pool was too noisy and busy. Travelled 4th to 18th May, had a great time but would I return? Only if the hotel is refurbished.

Riu you did it again! What an amazing job
Tried several Rui hotels within the cancun area and this has got to be the best! Perfect for couples! Food was amazing, beaches absolutely beautiful, the hotel is amazing and the rooms are just gorgeous. Lots of different restaurants to choose from and loads of drinks to pick and the staff work especially hard to make your stay perfect. We had an awesome time whether relaxing or joining in with the staff who work hard throughout the day to keep you occupied. Definitely coming here again…. If you want a relaxing holiday with no kids screaming and jumping about all day then this is for you! The loudly Rui hotels are nearby if you are in to a party atmosphere.

Mexico (Cancun) get-away
To begin with we download Riu app before we left and checked in before we got to hotel which was handy saved time check-in at hotel was fast quick payement for environment tax showed passports and were ready mimosa in hand from lovely lady giving them out at reception,to start our holiday our bags were taken and brought up to our room we had 706 nice room but sea view which was nice from right side but left had generators which were very noisy, I tried my luck at reception asking if we could change room to my surprise they said yes one would be avaliable if we could wait two days then change as we were staying for 11 nights was no issue, We were moved effortlessly to our new room with stunning views of lagoon and sea as promised 2 days later, Hotel is spotlessly clean staff were cleaning constantly also maintenance was very good all round the hotel, although painting of outside on balconys was a pain as couldnt sit out long in morning as they began work very early aound 8 ish or before but letter informing us said 9 am till 5 pm. it's not a huge hotel but its adequate, Easy to find your way around, The staff work exceptionally hard are very helpful friendly and at hand constantly whether your at beach pool bar just sitting around hotel they are at you service for drinks, Food is of good quality where there's so much choice in buffet restaurant, After eating at all the specialty restaurants which we loved we were surprised by how good the food in there was , but we enjoyed the restaurants steak house was ok everyone was trying to get in you have to go here early as its popular but to be honest it wasn't that great was ok my sirloin although big was very fatty, Mexican i enjoyed Japanese i paticularly liked food was delicious krystal was our least favourite but we loved the Italian the most, went there twice food and service was excellent there's several pools doted around quiet one, main large one which is also quiet, and a party one where there's lots going on, beach is beautiful 😍 stunning clear water there's a little section to the right padding bit which is picturesque, not a lot of entertainment in the evening we saw a few shows which were good the Riu parties were great well there's 4, 2 of which are in afternoon and 2 evening we went to the white party at Riu caribe was great really enjoyed it , To summarise we had a amazing holiday booked excursions with on site company good very reliable i would recommend great guys, We enjoyed all aspects We would love to come back and would highly recommend Riu Palace Las Americas.

Disappointing Riu experience...
We stayed at the Riu Las Americas in Cancun from May 9–16, and while there were definitely positives to the trip, this was also the vacation that made me seriously reconsider whether we will continue staying with the RIU brand moving forward. First, credit where it’s due: the staff at this resort were excellent. Friendly, hardworking, and consistently pleasant throughout the property. The food was also very good overall, especially for an all-inclusive, and we appreciated that there were options available at many of the restaurants and buffets for most dietary requirements. One highlight we absolutely recommend is the jet skiing through Scuba Caribe, located directly onsite. The staff were professional, safety-conscious, and made the experience feel very comfortable and organized. The pricing was also surprisingly reasonable and completely worth it. The resort itself has two main pool areas. One was quieter and more relaxed, mostly attracting older guests. The second pool featured the swim-up bar, which in theory should have been a fun social atmosphere. Unfortunately, it became almost unbearable because of the nonstop entertainment noise. Every day around 10am, the entertainment staff would start blasting microphones with games, yelling, commentary, and constant chatter that carried on for most of the day. A few activities throughout the day are understandable, but this was relentless. The entire atmosphere felt more like a childish spring break party than an adults-only upper-tier resort. RIU really needs to understand that many guests — especially at an adults-only property — come for relaxation, conversation, and a peaceful getaway, not nonstop forced entertainment, which felt very cheesy 80s inspired. And to be clear, I’m 49 years old — not some grumpy senior complaining about music. Even then, it became incredibly irritating after a while. Most guests around us appeared visibly annoyed as well. Quiet background music and a calmer atmosphere would have gone a long way. Ironically, we often escaped to the beach just to get away from the noise at the pool. During the first few days of our stay, there was a heavy amount of sargassum along the shoreline, but thankfully it mostly cleared out later in the week, leaving the beach swimmable again, although still somewhat murky. We were genuinely grateful for that because it became the only peaceful place to enjoy the water. The biggest disappointment, however, was the condition of the rooms. While the grounds and public areas are maintained reasonably well, the rooms themselves are badly in need of renovations and updating. Mine was worn, stained, and poorly maintained. Housekeeping was inconsistent, the toilet was stained, the iron was broken, the WiFi router was missing entirely from the room, and the shower plumbing looked patched together with exposed pipes literally held up by zip ties. For a resort marketed as a premium adults-only experience, this simply does not meet expectations. The nightly entertainment also felt very dated and repetitive — the same recycled resort-show formula you see everywhere: Michael Jackson tribute shows, ABBA nights, and other tired routines that haven’t evolved in years. After dinner, the only real option was the piano bar. While nice enough, it was extremely subdued and lacked any real atmosphere or nightlife energy. It would have been great to have an outdoor evening lounge or social bar where guests could mingle and enjoy the evening without sitting through another predictable stage show. This was my 10th trip to Mexico, and most of those vacations have been spent at various RIUs across Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo. We’ve continued choosing the RIU Palace and adults-only properties because we expected a slightly more elevated, relaxing experience. Unfortunately, this trip felt like a wake-up call that the brand may be relying too heavily on customer loyalty instead of evolving with what travelers actually want today. If RIU wants returning guests to continue choosing their resorts, they need to modernize the experience. Not everyone wants nonstop poolside yelling and outdated entertainment programs. Many travelers save and wait long periods for a relaxing vacation experience, especially at adults-only higher-tier resorts. The staff are clearly doing their best, but management seriously needs to rethink the overall guest experience, tone down the constant noise, and invest in meaningful room renovations if they want long-time customers to keep coming back.
