We love this resort. The servers are amazing. We especially want to recognize Chewy, Victor, Rafael, Sergio, Junior, Alberto, Aharon and Orelio.

My honest review, as someone who's been to several resorts, including another RIU. I read amazing reviews of this resort before booking. We love the RIU vallarta so I figured it would compare. I'm not a picky person when it comes to resorts. It's more about who you're with and the fun you make together. The biggest reason I would not go back to this resort is the elevators. I had read how bad they were, but took it lightly. Wow. It was awful, & we barely used them. Thankfully we were on the 3rd floor so took the stairs 99% of the time. But people waited...and waited. I could run up to my room, get what I needed, & run back down & the same people were still waiting for the elevator. I wouldn't risk coming again and being put on a higher floor where taking the stairs wouldn't be an option. They were slow to come, slow to open, slow to move. Skipped floors. This should be the first thing that is upgraded. Rooms - exactly enough for what we needed. I slept amazing. Bed was comfy. Pillow was great. We could easily keep our room at 20 degrees. Cleaned everyday. Shower had hot water. Lot's of bottles of water and pop. Food - delicious. Hot, fresh. If you go later, some of the dishes will be empty & not replaced. Fruit was incredible. A la carts were fantastic. Lots of options. Pepe's snack shack had awesome food. Lot's of icecream. We did not go hungry. Something for everyone. Grounds - need some upgrades. Pools are crumbling in places which didn't affect the use, but will need to be fixed. Quite a few 'pot holes' in the concrete where you walk which lead to a few stubbed toes & some tripping. You learn to look down a bit more. Beach - perfect. In April the sand was incredible hot, almost unbearable to walk. But that also means the sun was shining, so just run faster. ;) Lot's of vendors on the beach but as soon as you tell them no,they stop asking. Yes there were Mariachi bands on the beach every afternoon, but it really isn't a bother. Adds to the authentic experience. You cannot go in to the water deeper than your waist or they'll whistle at you. The under tow is very strong. We walked North of the resort one morning & went into the water before the lifeguards were out. I'm a strong swimmer and so are my kids and we struggled to get back in at one point when we had gone out too deep. Entertainment - lacking, but I think this might just be a RIU thing. The ABBA show was decent. Drinks - lineups were long & a little unorganized but drinks were good

Super!
Last-minute deal for Spring Break - seemed to good to be true! Great facilities, food, amenities, and staff. First time on the west side of Mexico, and loved the history in Mazatlan.

Overall it was a great resort. The bath tub has too high of a step up to step into a narrow tub. My wife slipped while getting in and caused a huge bruise on her leg. Shower fixtures need to be replaced as well.

first time to mazatlan and we loved it. From check in to check out was on point. the only minor question at front desk (being we have been to several) Were no daily mimosa.???..........!!! Not a biggy but different from other RIU
