  Another wonderful trip!

  Back from Ocean C&T trip that was April 5-12th. Have been here many times before. Went as a group of 8 with folks ranging in age from 19-85. Some went El Beso level and some of us were privileged. Lots of debates I've seen online if Privileged level is worth it or not. For us, it is. You have full run of all restaurants and pools. You get better drinks and most importantly, you get a 'butler'. This trip, we had Elizabeth. She was excellent. To help her was Alberto who was also wonderful. They were always checking in to see how things were going or if we needed anything. Casimiro and Oliver at the privileged check in desk were great to deal with as well. Restaurants: all solid with great food Beach: sand is wonderful. Lots of sargassum but on the privileged side, they cleaned the beach more than the other side. Pools: lots of options depending on where you wanted to go Rooms: always well appointed Grounds: clean and well maintained Bars: Privileged is a wonderful bar. Jesus is the best. Overall another great trip! See you soon!

  Group Birthday Bash

  To set the scene, we were a party of 10 celebrating a milestone birthday event. All of us had booked via TUI well over 12 months ago and had chosen to upgrade to the adults only El Beso Section of the hotel, which I understand is no longer available going forward. The hotel itself is pleasant, as are the rooms and the grounds are well maintained. The gym was a bit on the small side and randomly well hidden from the main facilities. On the whole, the staff are very friendly and accommodating but there are a few who are a bit rude and abrupt when you approach them with any problems or queries. Elizabeth on the entertainments team stood out as exceptional, she works incredibly hard 24/7. We had a real problem booking tables at the restaurants as a party of 10. We were told we couldn’t reserve a table using the app, and when using customer services at the requested time of 10:00 am the morning before, found that every restaurant was still fully booked. Even when we turned up at 09:30 the same situation occurred. After complaining we were eventually told we could reserve two tables of 4 and one of 2 but there was no guarantee they would be close to each other. Not great when you are celebrating a special event. In one restaurant we were even told we couldn’t have a full menu choice as a group of 10 as well. The food itself was okay, not as good as I had expected…it doesn’t matter where you decide to dine each evening, expect to queue for 15+ minutes to get in. The buffet restaurant has a good choice of food each day…sometimes quite slow to replenish dishes. The Sensai Oriental à la carte restaurant and the Bluemoon restaurant were the best options during our stay. There is no formal dress code, despite what the website says. As we were staying in the El Beso section of the hotel, we tended to spend most of our time at that pool. If you want a sun lounger (obviously as a group of 10 we wanted to be together) you needed to be down by the pool by 06:00 am….anytime after that and you can forget it. Every lounger had a towel on it by 06:00 despite management saying this isn’t permitted. The other pool sun loungers were slightly more accessible, but why pay extra for a facility that you can’t use. The main pool gets very crowded and is very loud all day. The beach is very narrow and the seaweed is around a foot high and four foot in width. It didn’t bother us, it’s nature after all. The hotel does its best to clear it up, but it’s fighting a losing battle. The smell is acceptable I think until long standing seaweed is moved, and then it is a bit unpleasant. Would I choose this hotel again, probably not…you have a massive choice of hotels in the area and although as a group we had a good time, the frequent negative situations that consistently presented themselves during our stay took the edge of it unfortunately.

  Living the Dream

  Lovely clean well maintained resort. Privilege amenities were great! Shower was awesome. Rooms clean and comfortable. Staff were accommodating and pleasant. Very helpful butler services!

  The truth of the matter.......

  Lovely clean room, very comfortable. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Wifi is very poor and drops out all the time. Food is below average. Apps for booking other food outlets sketchy to say the least. Also been here a week now and one of the restaurants has yet to be open. Also the system of queuing for the main restaurant i found appalling. It took me back to my school years, like we're not intelligent enough to find our own table, is beyond a joke. The restaurant is self service so you literally queue just to be shown to a table!!! Also the hotel is very remote and we felt quite isolated. BUT BY FAR THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT FROM US AND OTHER PEOPLE WEVE SPOKEN TO IS THE LACK OF SUN LOUNGES. AND DESPITE MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING THE MANAGEMENT HAVE YET TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. SO IF YOUR CONSIDERING A HOLDAY HERE AND YOU WANT A SUN LOUNGER YOU HAVE TO BE UP AT 5am EVERY MORNING TO GUARANTEE YOU GET ONE, AS BY 6am THEY HAVE ALL BEEN TAKEN. WE EXPECTED QUITE WRONGLY AS IT TURNS OUT, THAT A HOTEL OF THIS CALIBRE WOULD AUTOMATICALLY PROVIDE ENOUGH LOUNGERS FOR ALL ITS GUESTS. I GUESS THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY AND COULDNT GIVE A TOSS AS YOUR A CAPTIVE CLIENT WITH NO WHERE ELSE TO GO. TODAY WE DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE SPARE UNUSED LOUNGES IN THE PRIVILEGE AREA BUT WE WASNT ALLOWED TO USE THEM AS WERE NOT PRIVILEGE. SO DESPITE A SHORTAGE OF LOUNGES THEY REMAINED UNUSED!!! WE WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT THESE MATTERS WILL BE TAKEN SERIIOSLY AND ADDRESSED FOR FUTURE GUESTS BUT WE WONT BE HOLDING OUR BREATH. WOULD WE RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.... NOT IN A MILLION YEARS

  Second time back !!

  We just got back from OCT last night and what a time. We stayed in room 6207 (building 7) and booked Privilege. We had a privilege garden room which was perfectly located close to everything. The room was very clean, updated, smelled fantastic. Beds were comfortable as well as the pillows. Housekeeping was wonderful and our fridge was always well stocked. Our butler was Elizabeth and she was absolutely fantastic. She booked all of our restaurant reservations and even tried to accommodate our group of 16 as best as possible. The privilege Lounge/restaurant was excellent. I’m so glad we upgraded. Food was so good and the service was superb. The Buffet had lots of options but we preferred a more quiet environment so we ate at the privilege restaurant for breakfast every morning. Villa marina, the Mexican restaurant and the privilege restaurant were my favourite. Not a lot of outlets in the room but we made do. There always seemed to be something going on entertainment wise throughout the day and evening. Elizabeth who did entertainment at the privilege pool was so sweet. She works really hard. Jesus was also great and was funny. Got guests participating in different activities. My one suggestion would be to have a bit more music at the privilege pool and to maybe move the live dj to somewhere like the top patio. We love to dance but there was no one really around the live dj area. We thought maybe people didn’t realize he was down by the swim up pool area. They do have live music made the lobby but depending on who was there it wasn’t always our jam. Maybe moving him on the patio up top would be good ? Lobby bar staff bartenders Marco, Mateo, Frankie and all the lobby staff were wonderful and made delicious drinks. Such gentlemen :) They Made guests feel beautiful and welcome ! Willberth at El beso bistro bar was so kind. Jose and Eduardo the privilege pool attendants were always working so hard around the pool delivering drinks to everyone. Amazing service. It was second time at this resort. We used the hospitality room to shower after check out ,where our shuttle didn’t come until 6pm. They were clean and spacious but didn’t have hairdryers or outlets for hair tools but aside from That , no real complaints. Yes the sargassum is bad but this is not the resorts fault. They do their best to attempt to clean some of it up, but where there is so much it is impossible to clear it all. Like many resorts, getting up early to reserve a chair by the pool is pretty much the norm. It’s not ideal, but where the beach isn’t really useable at this time for many , those who prefer the beach, are now at the pool which takes up more loungers. It’s Just my suggestion to get up early like everyone else so that you’re not scrambling to find a seat or possibly without a seat later the morning. Staff do try to be as accommodating as possible but are limited to a degree. I also found there were several guests that were unkind to the staff. This really frustrated me because they really do work very hard and try their best to satisfy their guests. I love the adults only section and heard they are getting rid of El Beso so this will be interesting, If I am being honest. So hopefully some of these options will remain to cater to some guests. All in all it was a trip I’ll never forget ! So many laughs. Thanks OCT!!
