  Staff Rude, Rooms dated and food Yuk!

  We booked this hotel/resort as a last minute holiday due to cancellations of another holiday. We had read all the reviews on trip advisor and even joint a social media group for further info. We decided to go with an open mind taking into consideration all the information we had. When arriving at the resort after nearly 18 hours of travelling door to door, the reception we got was awful! The room we was allocated was not the room we booked (from pictures). When was questioned this we was told this particular room was unavailable until the following day. We accepted this as we had 2 children and was extremely tired after a long day travelling. When we got to the room the sofa bed for 2 children was unmade. Room was spacious but very dated. The next day we had no communication about changing rooms until we sent a message asking! To which we was told to check out at 12pm and check back in to our new room at 5pm. No staff attended our room to collect our luggage we had to drag all bags, suitcases back upto reception. When we finally got to our new room (1 block away from the original) its was the same, unmade sofa bed and dated. The main buffet restaurant is busy the majority of the time and queue is constant from 6pm. The food was cold/barley warm and we got to breakfast about 8am, lunch 1.30pm and dinner approx 8pm. There was only a handful of times where we managed to get hot food when it was being replenished. We tried to book for the Italian and steak house to which you had to queue at 7.40am in the morning to reserve a table. When we attended our bookings these restaurants where empty and plenty of tables were spare. The beach bar for snacks was the same, cold and not alot of options. The staff at the resort, in my opinion are rude and not helpful. The whole holiday (8 nights) we were only able to get 1 golf cart from the main reception to the beach (approx 10min walk). The entertainment however, was ok most nights, although if you want to sit down and enjoy what was on, you need to get there super early! we tried to get a drink at the bar and enjoy the shows but took over 30mins to get a drink and no seating for most people. Standing is your only option if you get there anywhere past 9pm. However, Fun Republic which we only found out about after speaking with another couple was amazing! Staff are super friendly and helpful and the kids absolutely loved it! The food there is good, and hot! This is only a 5/7min walk from the resort but including in your package. But again when leaving late at night no golf carts where around to take us back, even when the security guard radioed through. The weather was fab! sunshine everyday and beautiful blue skies. The beach is out of this world and sea is one of the best we have visited. The up-sale of anything at this resort is beyond excessive! Constant staff members walking around during the day trying to sell anything and everything, i completely understand they may rely on tips but i did not expect to have to be expected to tip every single staff member after anything and everything. This was a trip away for my birthday also, i had a spa treatment for my birthday and when i walked in for this the receptionist looked me up and down and was so rude i wanted to walk back out. If it was not for the lady who provided my treatments being lovely i would of done. After spending hours looking through reviews on this resort/hotel we tried hard to just go with the flow and just make our own minds up, but after actually going the negative reviews are very much true. Some people may have a good experience, ours was most certainly NOT the case.

  Melia caribe beach resort

  We arrived 1 week ago and leave tomorrow evening. We have had such a great holiday. The watermark and pools are really nice and the hotel itself is kept clean and tidy. I would recommend this hotel if anyone is traveling with children. There is enough to do and good entertainment. Plenty of places to eat. We went off resort and felt quite safe aswell as there are security gates which take a lot of details before going out and returning.
