Jun 01, 2026Enjoyed Our Second Visit!
Unfortunately, the hotel is scheduled to be closed for refurbishment from June-December, 2026. Still, I wanted to offer a review. The is was our second visit in 12 years, both for wedding anniversary events. We had a nice time. The staff is phenomenal. They're so kind, helpful, friendly, and good at what they do. The food and drink were good, some even great. We had nice meals at the Italian restaurant and Surf and Turf restaurant. Otherwise, we kept with the two outdoor venues near the pool, one being a buffet and the other being a walk-up grill. We had tasty meals at both. The room with a courtyard and pool view and the beach and ocean behind it was nice and comfortable. We did have issues with loud music from a DJ at the bar off the lobby. However, the staff understood and we were moved to a better room, one with an ocean view and butler. The staff did the right thing. Again, wonderful staff. We did not venture off grounds this trip, but they are many excursion options from the hotel. Onsite staff will help make the arrangements. One last thing is we used the Fun & Fitness facility every morning. Although we did not do classes, we used the treadmills, ellipticals, dumbbells, and weight machines. The equipment is fairly well maintained, although a few could be replaced. Overall, the building and pool area is still impressive and well-maintained, but it has signs of wear and tear, so the updating and modernizing is due. It will surely be amazing when it's completed. Perhaps we will visit a third time.

We took our daughter her for graduating college with two degrees. We booked an ocean front butler suite for us and a suite for her. The A/C did not work in our room. I complained to our butler's, concierge and the front desk. No one helped or switched our room. We had no A/C in our room for three days. No one did anything about it. The resort was not crowded. No one seemed to care about the issue when I would complain. No one would ever follow up with us. They would say they would fix it but no one ever did. They finally moved us to a new room. For 3 of 6 days we had no A/C and they didn't care. Our butler's did nothing to help and after the 2nd time I complained about no A/C the butler's stopped helping or serving us at all. They did nothing to make things right for us besides a note saying sorry and they hope the rest of our stay is enjoyable with 3 small cupcakes. The service and customer service was totally unacceptable for the cost we paid.

Great vacation at the JOIA
Great vacation at JOIA I was very happy with this resort. I found the food to be delicious (special thanks to Claudio and Orville,they went out their ways to make us happy. The beach was beautiful and clean and the bar service great (Thanks to Keresa for making me the perfect heart of Jamaica drink) The hôtel rooms are large and comfortable and the service was excellent ( thank you Rose Marie you are the best) Thanks to Britannia at the French restaurant for chilling our glasses of sparkling wine. We appreciated the drink so much more. The reception staff was always smiling and in such a good mood ( thanks Sonika) Thanks to all the outdoor activities team specially Alrick and Ace for the volleyball fun. Overall I found the staff to be the best of all the resorts I have been over the years. I hope they will all still be there when I return to this resort.

Iberostar JOIA Rose Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica
I had the pleasure of vacationing at JOIA Rose Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica 5-12 May 2026. The location was exactly what I needed. The property was beautiful, on a great location that provided the best views for both beautiful sunrises and sunsets. In spite of a wonderful location and a beautiful property the service and hospitality there was beyond approach. Great service began at arrival from the bellhops William and Sean with their warm greeting and help. This extended throughout my visit, it also included Judy James in the restaurants, she was always kind, professional and a pleasant presence. On the beach, I received excellent service provided by Donavon, Shelisa, Rasha and Moesha. And with any questions and assistance I required, I could rely on Shafa’e, Briana, Brittney and Deidrian which continued professional and outstanding assistance during my entire stay. Since this was not my first trip here, I had the pleasure of seeing old friends and once again receive OUTSTANDING assistance from Marsha-lee, Patrice Johns, and Breanna Fray. These ladies make me want to return as soon as possible to Jamaica Rose Hall. In fact, I am booking my next trip today. I love to visit this property because it has these wonderful people, who are always a pleasure to be around them. With each visit I continue to be impressed with how the level of service continues to rise. I look forward to returning.

FANTASTIC 5-star
I travelled here with my daughter for 7 days (not long enough in my opinion. This is a great resort. It is only about 15 minutes from the airport. The people are really fantastic. It is an adult only. The grounds are immaculate. The beach was very nice, and we were able to snorkel just out in front of Sections. The food was absolutely delicious. Our room was very large, and the patio was huge and the bathroom was very large and amazing. I would not hesitate to return here.
