Jun 12, 2026Hotel good, service questionable at times
Facilities at hotel were good. Rooms were clean. The military precision of not being allowed to check in before 3pm is ridiculous and only causes unnecessarily long queues at reception (where only 2 people were on). I refuse to believe non of their rooms are ready until bang on 3pm. But even on checking at 2.40pm both myself and another couple we were travelling with were told to come back at 3pm. I also pre-booked bubbles and chocolate strawberries for our friends room and it was delivered to our room despite confirming twice the correct room number. Service just lets this hotel down slightly

The upstairs is a bit loud @10pm to 12am Definitely woke me up. And it was loud again around 5-6am. Breakfast was great and Service was great too especially the front desk, very helpful.

Jun 11, 2026Taxi ordered by bell services
As returning guests to this hotel we think the hotel it fantastic. BUT please aware if you intend to travel to the cruise terminal (approx 1.2 miles) we ordered a taxi via the hotel bell services and expected to spend around $18 to $20 - the taxi arrived on time and we proceeded to the terminal where the driver RAY charged us $50 !!!! I have written to the hotel requesting them to stop recommending RAY as it doesn't show their hotel in a good light as they recommended and ordered the taxi. We explained to RIU on their head office website but their reply appeared to be a few standard paragraphs, saying the obvious things like the taxis are 3rd party and they have no control over the prices charged - obviously! So don’t rely on their bell services for a taxi either book yourself or book an uber, but in any case NEVER BOOK RAY as he is a con man recommended by RIU.

Excellent 3-day stay
We had a wonderful 3-day stay at the Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for all our activities, and the breakfast buffet was the best we have had in the U.S. Overall, it was a wonderful hotel that I would highly recommend!

great location but very busy
Nice hotel - solid breakfast but fair warning, your entire family has to enter the free breakfast together which is a major hassle for most families. The location was terrific...the rooms a little worn but on the whole, I'd stay again.
