Mar 26, 2026Checked out early, just crap
This is the worst of the Hampton properties and they’re pretty crap overall. I checked out a day early and wasn’t even asked why or if anything was wrong. Staff are slow and unfriendly, smile and they scowl at you I have never been made to feel so unwelcome, not even an apology when groups of people are stood at the bar waiting ages just to order. The room has a stunning view of tram tracks and overgrown weeds, windows you can’t open and noisy leading to a rubbish night sleep. The gym is clearly not cleaned as using the equipment I had black marks on my hands, yuck! In a bit of a rough area with no decent restaurants nearby but at least you can escape easily being right next to the tram stop. Evening meals are limited to pizza, curry, lasagne and pre-made pizzas. An offering worse than a spoons microwave meal. Having stayed in all three Birmingham Hilton properties I may be diamond but I’m done with it and if I have to stay in the city I’ll vote with my feet to another hotel chain.

Awful, avoid room 416 if you are staying here
This is the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I was put in room 416, be sure to avoid this room if you are staying here. The headboard of the bed backs directly onto the wall behind the hotels lift shaft, which made an excruciating grinding noise all night long....it simply didn’t stop. I called down to reception at around 2am after failing miserably to get to sleep to be told there was nothing that could be done, no other rooms were available. There is no doubt whatsoever that room 416 should not be allowed to be a room in the first place - it should be either a staff room or store area....it is totally unacceptable to put a paying member of the public in a room with such a consistently loud noise that would prevent even the heaviest of sleepers being able to get any quality sleep. So disappointing. Also, regarding the aforementioned dreaded lift system - it is very hit and miss - seemed to work fine one moment, then just decide not to move another. Breakfast was also mediocre - powdery scrambled eggs are never a good sign. To be avoided, especially if there are other options for your stay in Birmingham.

Short trip (4 nights) to watch football in Birmingham. Really good location, near stations and just short walk away from everything. Good, clean rooms. Decent fitness center that served us right. A bit limited breakfast, but filled you up nicely.

Good service
Reception staff and breakfast staff were helpful and polite. Small issue with room when we arrived for 4 nights - was resolved well by Akua and Ryan !

Feb 10, 2026Great hotel. Clean, modern and in a good spot.
Stayed for four nights in February. On arrival, a guest had accidentally triggered a fire alarm, which understandably caused some disruption at reception. One member of staff appeared to be dealing with it on the system while another was moving in and out of the office, and I was asked to take a seat in the bar while they resolved it. The situation itself was clearly outside the hotel’s control, so I can’t fault them for that. However, after a 7 hour flight, waiting around 20 minutes without much clarity on what I was waiting for was a frustrating first impression, especially as staff were already aware it was an accidental activation. Aside from the check in delay, the stay was excellent. The room was clean and cosy, breakfast was good, and the location is very convenient. There’s a tram stop right outside with frequent services that get you into the city centre in just a few minutes. A convenience store is next door, with a Tesco about a 5 minute walk away, plus several good takeaways and pubs nearby. Overall, a very comfortable stay and I would happily recommend the hotel.
