  Great and Relaxing Trip

  This was our first time at the resort and we are already wanting to plan our trip back next year. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful who worked there. They always ensured we got what we wanted and that our stay was going well. The room was clean and comfortable. We upgraded to the Premier Master Ocean Front room and loved it! Having a second bathroom was incredibly nice. We found the bed and pillows very comfortable. We love the food here--there is a lot of variety and something for everyone. Some say it didn't have a lot of flavor, but they always had salsas or sauces to add to spice things up! I don't eat meat and there were more than enough things for me to eat. My husband eats anything and loved it all.

  Awesome Trip - thanks to Juan Carlos!!

  We had a fantastic vacation at Park Royal Resort, thanks to Juan Carlos! The panoramic view from our balcony of the turquoise ocean, white sandy beach and the La Isla Shopping Village was absolutely breathtaking! Thanks to Juan Carlos, we had cabana all week, which we took full advantage of. The staff was excellent - the food was delicious and the drinks were top-shelf! Can't wait to go back!

  Great stay

  We stayed in the villas and it was truly enjoyable. We felt private from the rest of the resort, but we were really close to get to the facilities we wanted to use. The food was good, the staff were all friendly and helpful. The Mexican restaurant was our favourite but the Italian and buffet were both good too. There was an adults only section but being in a villa, it felt like we were the only ones there. I could see this being enjoyable for families as well as couples. Not the biggest of resorts but it's Cancun and you have the beach - what more can you ask for?

  Find a better Resort

  Was very disappointed in the resort and most of the staff. No one smiled, made jokes or went out of their way to make it special. what happened to the laughter, little extras like towel animals on the bed. I feel like they just want tips.

  One of the nicest resorts I've ever been to, anywhere

  I would absolutely stay here again! This was one of the nicest resorts that I've ever been to, anywhere in the world. The package deal through Sunwing (Canada) was a good deal, too. Rooms: The hotel has several different buildings (some renovated, some older). I booked a Premier Superior Ocean Front room, which is in the Premier tower. This really is a great location right on the beach front; I could hear the waves crashing on the beach. My room had a beautiful balcony and an amazing view of the sea. With the breathtaking 'ocean front' scenery, this was the nicest hotel room that I have ever stayed in. These comments only apply to the Premier Superior Ocean Front room - in the renovated section. Property: I liked the overall design of the property. It's spacious, with a wide beachfront span. Most resorts in the Hotel Zone have a narrow footprint on the beach, but Grand Park Royal Cancun has a lot of beach. The property felt quiet and peaceful; it's not a party hotel. The grounds are well-maintained and attractive. I enjoyed walking around the place, seeing the iguanas, and also having a bit of a night walk (on the grounds) between locations like the rooftop bar and buffet. You can even go for late night ice cream! Mobility warning: I think this resort could be difficult for people who have mobility issues or who have problems with stairs. There are many uneven surfaces. I did not have any problems myself, though. Food: The food was great! The buffet has a wide range of dishes, and they 'rotate' the themes. For example, one day the dinner buffet was seafood-focused. The breakfast is excellent. I like a variety of foods, and every single one of my meals (through my 7 day stay) was enjoyable. I also tried some of the additional restaurants, and these were excellent as well. The Italian restaurant has nice dinner options, though I suspect it's mostly popular for the ambience; the actual Italian food was rather standard (but good). Flor de Sal is definitely worth visiting; they have a seafood menu for lunch, and Mexican menu for dinner. I was very impressed by both of these! But I would like to emphasize that the regular dinner buffet also has a great variety of food, with many interesting dishes. Beach / sea: Because the resort has such a wide beach-front area, it's peaceful and not crowded. The beach is clean, and sargassum was minimal during my visit. Finding beds, including shade, was generally easy. As with much of the Hotel Zone strip, there are a lot of waves, and some rough conditions for those looking to swim. The straight coastline and shifting sandbars results in some rather powerful rip currents. You must certainly be careful about these dangerous 'rips' when there are red flags on the beach. However, for several days, the conditions of the sea were quite calm, and I did a lot of swimming. The lifeguards are good at flagging a swimmable part of the beach, when it's possible. However... it should be noted that the waves (and rip currents) can be quite strong. I also loved walking along the beach. Staff: I really think the staff (and service) is excellent here. Staff were friendly and helpful, and I consistently had good service. I think this is a well-run resort. I read many warnings about pushy salespeople, but I skipped the 'welcome' sales pitch. Location: I think Grand Park Royal Cancun has a fabulous location. I walked along the beach, up to the north-eastern tip of the Hotel Zone. That area near the top is much more crowded, densely packed, and noisy. Some of those beaches had calmer water and seemed better for swimming, but the beaches were incredibly crowded. I preferred the location of this resort, which is on a quiet stretch of beach that also shows off the peaceful beauty of the sea. At the same time, it's nice to be close enough to the 'party zone' of the north end of the Hotel Zone that you can easily get to this area, if you want.
