  As a UVC member I was very disappointed with this resort. The hospitality was lacking, the room quality was poor. Multiple things In the rooms were broken. Would not go back to this resort.

  Il Mare at Dreams - An Adult Only Resort within a Resort

  We spent seven nights in March 2026 at Il Mare at Dreams Curacao. Il Mare is a separate all-inclusive, adults-only area of the Dreams Curacao resort with its own reception, bar, restaurant and pool. You still have access to everything at Dreams as well as the restaurants at the Zoetry resort across the road. This review focuses on Il Mare but I’ll touch on things we experienced as Dreams and Zoetry as well as the island itself. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport and getting to the hotel is easy. We opted for transfers with Discover Curacao to make the trip as easy as possible, but you could also do a taxi. Il Mare has its own reception so you can avoid the Dream hotel lobby entirely and expedite the check-in process. What sets Il Mare apart are the 52 free standing modern “pods” along the beach. The lower numbered pods have direct access to the beach and water for easy swimming although they are arranged in a semi-circle, so they are a little less private. The higher numbered pods are also directly on the water offering more privacy but without access to the water. The higher numbered pods are also closer to the bar, restaurant and pool which can be a little noisier at night. In the end I think it balances out. Each pod has a small deck with lounge chairs, a table and umbrella facing the water in case you don’t feel like going too far but want to enjoy that scenery. The pods are slightly smaller than a typical preferred room in a Dreams resort. It has a king-sized bed in the center that looks out through floor to ceiling window/door to the ocean. There is a small sitting area in front of the bed and a flat screen TV mounted in the corner. There is a half wall behind the bed with a working area and the mini-bar fridge stocked with bottled water, soda and beer. In the rear of the pod are two closets, a safe, his and her sinks, the toilet and shower. The whole thing is compact but very functional and we never felt cramped. I had seen posts online regarding various issues with these pods, but we had no problems with our unit so maybe these early issues have been resolved. My only comment that would have made these pods better would be if the toilet room and the shower were a little bigger. The pod came with a team of butlers that are available via WhatsApp for pretty much anything you need 24x7. Typically, there were one or two butlers available at any time and they would message you when they changed shifts. I need to make a special mention of one butler, Romke, who was the best staff member I have ever met at any all-inclusive resort. He made great suggestions and was proactive in anticipating our needs before we asked. Regarding other room services, the mini-fridge was stocked every day and the room was cleaned by midday. They also came by for turndown service every evening. Room service was available, but we never utilized it. The Il Mare pool is an infinity style pool that was never crowded and you could always get a lounge chair. There is also wait staff available to bring you drinks or food. The restaurant at Il Mare is Battelino which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is convenient and you have the option to sit inside or outside. Service is relaxed and comfortable and varies from average to very good on our visits. We ate breakfast and lunch there on the days we were on site. Dinner was better than at Dreams but not quite up to the Zoetry standard. The Il Mare bar was outstanding which some awesome and friendly bartenders that can make all kinds of drinks and coffees. I even got a Cuban coffee from Viktor, one of the bartenders, that was wonderful. We spent one day at the Il Mare beach. Our pod was close to the pool, so it was about a five-minute walk to the beach. Our butler, Romke, secured us a Bali bed with towels, fruit and drinks which made the setting perfect. The water is nice, but I recommend wearing water shoes because of the pieces of coral and rocks at the water’s edge. We did spend some time on the Dreams side of the resort. The beach seemed nice with lots of trees and lounge chairs, but it was a bit crowded. I did find the preferred pool and beach on our last day, and it was small but a nice set-up. The Dreams hotel itself looked a bit dated and there is a public casino on the first floor although the restaurants had a nice vibe. We attempted to eat at Craft Iguana, which is the brewery/grill but there was a line out the door and after 15 minutes of waiting, no staff came to the people waiting to be seated. We ended up going to the World Café buffet which was very lacking with minimal food choices that were mediocre and non-existent service. On another night, we tried Oceana Seafood restaurant which has a nice atmosphere, and we had a good dinner. We did take advantage of the golf cart service to visit Zoetry on two occasions for dinner. We ate in Bloom both nights, which was excellent for food and service. We didn’t get to see too much of Zoetry but it seemed quite nice with a jungle feel due to the many palms although it is located across the road from the beach. Curacao is a great island if you haven’t been there before. This is part of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) in the southern Caribbean that is outside of the hurricane zone that most of the Caribbean experiences. When planning your trip, you may want to avoid the rainy season (Oct – Dec). Locals told us that Curacao has the best of four worlds: the Caribbean, Europe (due to the close relationship to the Netherlands, South America (due to being close to Columbia and Venezuela) and the United States. The island is considered very safe and we traveled into the town of Willemstad twice and did a guided island tour. I would recommend doing both. In Willemstad, there are plenty of shopping and food options and it is easy to walk. Don’t miss the famous floating bridge, colorful buildings and the local food markets while you are visiting. We were told to visit the micro-brewery in town and tour the Blue Curacao factory, but we never made it. Maybe next time. We did a day tour to the west end of the island and had a chance to snorkel with turtles and see the famous blow holes along the coast like Boka Pistol along with other sights. You can rent a car but being on the island for our first time we decided to go with a private tour guide which was Discover Curacao. This was a day well spent. Overall, we really liked both Curacao and Il Mare and I would go there again. The pods may not be for everyone but we both found them very comfortable and I preferred this set-up over a standard hotel room even if it is a little smaller. The island has so many possibilities to explore that it justifies making another trip back in a couple years.

  Disappointing

  I recently stayed at Dreams Curaçao through RCI timeshare, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The food throughout the resort was consistently poor—unappetizing and, at times, inedible. The beach area is very small and not at all what you would expect from a Caribbean destination. The rooms are outdated, musty, and felt neglected. Basic necessities like bath towels, washcloths, and even tissues were difficult to obtain and often required multiple requests. As someone with medical sensitivities, I was especially frustrated that the rooms lacked proper dehumidification, which made the already damp environment even more uncomfortable. There is little to no entertainment suitable for younger adults, and the activities seem to cater primarily to an older crowd. The hot tub was not heated properly, and when we raised the issue, management appeared dismissive rather than helpful. Many staff members came across as unfriendly and unaccommodating, which only added to the negative experience. The gym facilities were also disappointing, with visibly rusted and outdated equipment. For an all-inclusive resort, the beverage offerings were subpar—no top-shelf liquor, and drinks were noticeably watered down. Overall, this resort does not meet expectations for an all-inclusive experience, especially for American travelers. I was very dissatisfied with my stay and would not recommend this property to others. Based on conversations during my trip, it seems that concerns about this resort have been raised before, as it does not reflect well on Curaçao’s otherwise beautiful tourism industry.

  Second time here. It was so bad the first time, we were given a free 7 day return trip. Stayed in the pods. Shower worked only one of seven days.

  quiet relaxing, but boring at night

  entertainment was not as good as expected, more activities needed at night breakfast buffet was as expected, resturant food was much better
