I recently stayed at Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood, Curio Collection by Hilton, and while the property itself is beautiful and smells amazing upon arrival, there were a few things that fell short for me. For a resort of this size and reputation, I expected more in-room amenities—robes, slippers, and upgraded toiletries. Thankfully I brought my own, because what was provided was very basic (fragrance-free and a bit watery). Small extras like cotton pads, wipes, or even a basic sewing kit were also missing. The rooms feel a bit dated, though you can tell they’re in the process of making updates. Dining was just okay. There are several restaurants on-site (including a steakhouse, which I didn’t try), but overall the food tasted pretty similar across the board and didn’t stand out. I did really enjoy the separate 21+ area—it’s a nice touch if you’re looking for a more relaxed, adult-only space. The included credit for kayaking or paddleboarding was also a nice perk. One thing to note: outdoor dining options don’t open until 11 AM, which can be inconvenient in the mornings. Also, the billing process could definitely be improved—I’m still waiting on my deposit ($250 per night) to clear 48 hours after checkout. Overall, it was an okay stay, but as someone who usually prefers Marriott International properties, this felt like a bit of a downgrade.
