  Peaceful getaway with gorgeous beach

  Very lovely low key spot. Beautiful beach , white flour sand. Nice pool with great swim up bar. The hotel is well cleaned and maintained regularly ( on my short 4 day trip I saw daily workers upgrading ) This is not a big party place and not super fancy, but very well valued and good overall. Staff was stellar and super kind. Pamela from the Italian resto Mamma Mia was very sweet and attentive. I did find the dishes a little on the salty side though, but the flavours were there. Will surely be back in the future

  Pretty average resort

  Still here now. Booked privileged superior room asked for low floor. Been given 3rd story which hurts my knees like hell as I suffer arthritis. Did tell them I’m disabled on check in. Facilities meh. Needs an update. Resort pool is too geared up for youngsters with silly loud activities most of the day. Sargassum an issue but resort works hard to clear. Buffet is terrible choice and cold food. Restaurants are a life saver but limited menu choices. Didn’t get beach towels in room on arrival. Had to chase up water and minibar refill 3 times so far in under a week. Nightly turn down service? Haven’t had that either. Privilege section of beach used by all and not checked. Towels left hogging beds for hours. Balcony next door has constant flies buzzing around so can’t open door. Will not be returning I’m afraid. Feel very disappointed.

  Great vacation

  Family vacay - it was perfect! The weather was great, beach was gorgeous and you could walk forever. We had one afternoon where the seagrass was bad but otherwise the beach and water were perfect! The entertainment staff were fun and engaging and respected if you said you didn’t want to participate. Not aggressive at all. They were so fun with lots of different activities throughout the day to make things fun. Nice variety of food and different places to eat. Food was great! Rooms were big, clean and spacious. Beautiful garden view rooms where we got to watch the spider monkey and Coates. Met a lot of other Canadians so the party was going and the drinks were flowing! We had a great time and will definitely be back!

  "Hogar, dulce hogar"- Nothing better then home.

  This was our fourth time staying at Catalonia Playa Maroma. The beautiful beach, the friendly staff, the nature based grounds and all the other hidden gems, makes this resort feel like home when we are choosing a Mexican holiday getaway. Catalonia Playa Maroma definitely has one of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean; wide, with beautiful white sand, a lot of shade thanks to the palm trees. Unfortunately this time near the end of our stay we experienced an unusual large amounts of seaweed that the grounds crew worked very hard to remove. Firstly I wanted to thank the ETC staff for wonderful service and attention to all our needs. The ETC team included: Concierges: Laura, Henry and Yasmin Butlers: Evelyn, Richardo, Isabela, and Daniel We feel that your more than a team, your a familia. We always felt the ETC team was very approachable and made us feel special. There were a variety of restaurants, with many wonderful menu choices although we do miss the Tapis which we always enjoyed. I'm a huge foodie and loved the food here. Our go to spot for breakfast and lunch was the Beloved restaurant. We experienced great service and the food was top notch. Special thanks to Bernabe (Por Que No guy), Carlos, Aldo. Samatha, Yaneth, Alejandra, Gabriela and Quirino. During our stay this time at Catalonia Playa Maroma, our favorite restaurant hands down was Mama Mia the Italian restaurant. The food and service was incredible and we had a very special interaction with the Chief - Eder, Manager - William, Waiter - Eddie and Hostess Diane. Overall it was a great holiday - we will be back again.

  Island Mujeres Plus Experience

  Charlotte, from Air Canada Vacations at the Catalonia Playa Maroma resort, was most helpful in booking my friends and I on a catamaran, snorkel, beach adventure. The trip included snorkelling, a buffet lunch, some beach time and souvenir shopping. Charlotte was knowledgeable about the different excursions and is fluent in more than one language. She was very professional and helped us to select the perfect trip to suit our group. The snorkelling was exceptional with Kristen and the crew on the Sea Passion III catamaran in clear, warm waters. There were many species of fish, lots of coral and some sunken treasures too! The buffet lunch took place on the Isla Mujeres. There was a good selection of foods that were clearly labelled with comments such as vegetarian, gluten free, contains milk etc. Next, on to the beach for swimming and shopping. The captain and crew were extremely skilled in manoeuvring the catamaran into its drop off and pick up location. The soft, white sands of the beach with some rolling waves in the water were very inviting. Although, we did not take part in the shopping, some of the other guests on the catamaran returned with items and jewelry that they purchased. Once we were back on board the Sea Passion III, the music was playing, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages were offered as we sailed back to Cancun. I highly recommend this excursion.
