3rd time staying at Carina Bay

I've now stayed at CB 3 times and I hope to be back! A few things to know. Do not underestimate the Caribbean sun! CB is on the far eastern part of St Croix, it is not near anything and that's part of why I love it. If you plan to travel the island please rent a car or be ready to pay for a taxi. I will say the taxis are more trustworthy than ride share. The staff at CB are truly amazing! I need to give a few shout outs. To Devenica, Carla and the rest of the breakfast & dinner crew, thank you for making meals so enjoyable! To Mickey, Bethany, Albena (sorry don't think I'm spelling your name correctly) and Scott and Gregory for always knowing my order at the bar, you are the best! To the wonderful ladies who work in the coffee shop, you always made the best coffee, better than a big chain shop! To Lalo, who is underappreciated. You made my trip pure fun! Yes, you were just doing your job. I had wanted to take a kayak out to the reef, I can't swim and have never kayaked. The time you took to get me out there is something I can never truly thank you for! And Jonathan at the front desk. It may have been a simple check-in, but I was so happy to get the room I wanted. So, why only 4 out of 5. There is no longer a gift shop here. It would have been nice to get bug spray. And the 2 ladies working the front desk. I wanted to make sure they knew how appreciated a lot of us were for the cook who came in on her day off and got thru everyone's orders. All they did was talk over me, clearly didn't care and whispered as I walked away. I had another concern I tried to bring up and was treated like me being there was ruining their day. Couple more things to know. CB faces south in to the Caribbean, the beach will get a lot of seaweed/sargassum. That is just mother nature. CB does the best they can to keep it clean. It is not their fault! All in all, do your research to make sure you don't mind being away from everything. Enjoy what CB has to offer, beach, sand, sun, pools, kayaks and staff who make it so enjoyable!

Terrible lukewarm cafeteria food. Misleading advertising on website. Not worth the price.

When I booked my stay with this resort, the website said that you had several amazing restaurants available there, including the Italian restaurant. When I arrived, the Italian restaurant was closed and had been closed for awhile. The food at the resort was mediocre at best. The Waves restaurant was not open all the time, and you would expect it to be open for lunch. So the only place that served lunch was the pool bar. And that most of the time took over 30 minutes to get food. The Latitude bar, allegedly open from 3pm - 11pm, was not open with the exception of getting a welcome rum fruit punch upon arrival. The only time it was open was when it rained and the pool bar had to shut down and move inside. The food at the Waves restaurant was mediocre at best. Most of the time the dinner food was lukewarm. And the food was nothing special. This was boring cafeteria food. Chicken, beef, pasta, and shrimp (which was only made 2 ways .. plain and with lemon sauce). Nothing creative and things that I could have made at home much better. Dessert was every night only chocolate cake and carrot cake. Complaints were being made thus there were vouchers being given away for people to eat at the casino's restaurant. The best thing was the people working there. All friendly and helpful. Gregory, Scott and Juliana were great at the bar. I greatly overpaid for this stay. Their website is misleading and also contained false advertising (about the Italian restaurant). They say on the website "all-inclusive dining for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner with both generous buffet choices". That makes it sound like lunch is available with generous buffet choices. This is not true. Lastly, there is nothing closer than 20 minutes away from this resort besides their casino. And taxis to go back and forth are expensive. So I recommend renting a car. Or staying in Christiansted which is the main town on this island.

    Great experience,

Divi Resort is far from everything, but we made the very best of it Thanks to Ocean Bar great Bartenders especially our girls top 5 tier Louisa & Bethany really made our stay the very best. Louisa is extra great in what she does she take pride in her job & Bethany makes the best shots ever, these two work great together. What will I change about Divi Resort dinner experience it’s the buffet dinner. Bethany & Louisa 10/10

    Great Resort for relaxation.

I don't understand some of the overly negative reviews for this place. It's a great little resort on the quiet side of the island. Rooms: I think all of the rooms other than maybe a few of the first floor rooms on the Oceans (higher tier cost rooms) side of the resort have perfect views of the ocean. Most are just 20 ft or so from the waves landing on the beach. Some of the best sounds you need for sleeping. Rooms were comfortable, good sized and very clean. Balcony chairs were a little hard for my old back :) but otherwise great in all regards. Staff: Everyone was friendly and helpful. They're not overloaded with staff but we never had any need or request that they couldn't meet. Resort vibe: Never crowded. Picked up a bit on the weekends but otherwise I don't think the resort was even at half capacity. Plenty of beach space and loung chairs for everyone. I noticed someone was complaining about chairs and the beach in a review and don't understand unless maybe there was a surge of guest while they were there. It was one of the least crowded hotels I've ever stayed at. St Croix is pretty low volume for tourists I believe....which is my kinda place. Activities: Plenty of water sports things to do (included) with Kayaks, snorkel gear, paddle boards, etc. And the bay is protected by a reef covering the entire area so pretty calm waters to play in. Beach: Beach was fine. It's not perfect white powder sand like Maui or some other carribean islands but a lot of the beaches here aren't. There was a lot of seaweed that would wash in every few days or so due some storms off the coast but the resort had a tractor and cleaner clear it each time it happened. Plenty of shady spots under some palm trees on one side of the resort and plenty of sunny spots for the nuts that love sunburns :) Pool: There are two (i think) with the main pool beach front. It's not huge but it's not a huge resort. Never felt crowded and is right next to the beach bar/restaurant. Pretty chill for the most part. Food: Ok...food here wasn't fantastic. And I'm mainly refering to the buffet (breakfast and dinner). And to be fair, the breakfast buffet wasn't really too bad. One of if not the best omlettes I've ever had. The buffet selections (both breakfast and dinner) were pretty limited but with the small number of guests there most of the time, I wouldn't expect them to lay out a Sandals style buffet. If they did, they wouldn't be in business too long. The bar restaurant was open from 11-9 or 10 every day and had fanastic food. Staff there was awesome as well. I was a little concerned when we booked from the reviews I read on here. But within the first day of being there, I realized it was a lot of negative people with way too high of an expectation for a small all inclusive resort. We'll almost certainly be returning. Go in with reasonable expectations on the food and you'll have a great time! Oh....and the east side of the island is very peaceful and quiet. I saw some reviews mentioning how far the resort is from town.....but keep in mind...the island is pretty small.....you can cross the whole thing in 45 min or so.

Not worth the money for all inclusive

Rating: 2.5 / 5 Stars I wanted to love this resort because the location is truly stunning, but the experience fell far short of the "all-inclusive luxury" price tag. Here is the breakdown of why this stay was a major disappointment: The Good: The resort is situated in a beautiful spot. A huge plus is that almost every room offers an ocean view, which is lovely to wake up to. The Room: While the rooms were generally clean, the details were lacking. I found traces of mold in the bathroom, and strangely, the plastic protective covers were still on the bathroom glass door—as if it had been replaced but never finished. The Staffing Crisis (The Biggest Issue): This is where the experience fell apart. With over 200 rooms, there is a severe lack of staff to serve guests. On a busy weekend, I saw only three employees at the pool bar: two bartenders and one lone cook trying to serve over 50 people. • Wait Times: I witnessed a guest inquire about food she had ordered over two hours prior, only to have the chef yell back that he was the only one in the kitchen. • Availability: Most menu items were unavailable. When you pay for an all-inclusive experience, you expect variety, but the only thing they consistently had in stock was alcohol. The Grounds & Amenities: The resort doesn't feel like a luxury getaway; it feels more like a "Motel 6 on the water." Additionally, be warned about the beach. It is covered in ant hills, gnats, and biting insects. If you choose to stay here, bring heavy-duty bug spray, as I left with numerous bites. Final Verdict: The location has incredible potential, but it is not worth the money until they hire enough staff to actually support the number of guests. Stay at your own risk.
