  Staff make and break a place!

  My stay at Riu Montego Bay (Adults Only) was a mix of standout service and some very disappointing experiences that management needs to seriously address. Let me start with the positives. The buffet team—both at breakfast and dinner—were absolutely exceptional. Their warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism truly reflected what hospitality should feel like. Special recognition also goes to Franklin (trainee), Bondswell, and Navane—these individuals went above and beyond and made a lasting impression. By the pool bar, Rasean was simply the best—his non-alcoholic cocktails were top-tier and his service unmatched. Unfortunately, the front office experience set a poor tone. Devon at reception came across as rude and seemed more interested in guests who tip heavily rather than providing equal service to all. This is not the standard one expects at a resort of this level. Paul, the assistant manager on duty, was calm and polite, but ultimately offered more excuses than solutions. A major concern was security. On day one, a perfume was stolen from my duty-free bag after my luggage was taken to the room during check-in. The two female security staff handling the matter were an epic fail—there was no follow-up, no accountability, and no communication. This left me feeling unsafe for the remainder of my stay, to the point where I locked up all my belongings and avoided using the safe altogether. That level of discomfort should never happen at a resort. Another disappointing moment was at the pool towel station. One staff member refused to assist, claiming he didn’t speak English and asked if I spoke Spanish. However, once I showed him the towel card, he immediately understood—clearly indicating the earlier response was not genuine. That interaction was unnecessary and unprofessional. The housekeeping was just there not thorough and the staff were rude when asked to clean one said she will see…. yet it’s her job! In summary, while there are some incredible staff members who truly embody excellent customer service, the inconsistency—especially in front office and security—takes away from the overall experience. With better management accountability and staff training, this resort could easily live up to its full potential.

  My home away from home!

  I can’t say enough about the Riu Palace in Montego Bay…. Every time I come back, I feel like I’m home again. I have never been anywhere that makes me feel so welcomed, accepted, and all-around comfortable by some of the most wonderful people I have ever met! From the second, I walk out of my shuttle… I am greeted by Abraham or Hugh with a great big hug! I am greeted by what I call… my extended family. From the second, I reach the front desk… Robert, Portia and all the staff welcome me back home❤️ I’ve been to the Riu Palace Montego Bay seven times in the last 13 years. Trust me if I could, I’d be there every year! There isn’t anything bad I can ever say about this place because when I am there, I am happy and grateful from the second I arrive to the minute I leave. (well I’m not exactly always happy when I have to leave. lol) but I’m happy knowing I will return. From the dining staff.Audley, Christine, Jamar, Felicia Neville, Biggie Don and Nicky and Mr. Grant…honestly just to name a few. I can’t name everybody. There are so many and honestly they are all fantastic. The entertainment staff Short Boss, chocolata, Deniro, string Bean, DJ unstoppable, genius… I’m sure I am forgetting someone but that doesn’t make you any less important. You are all amazing. You keep me singing, dancing, laughing,entertained from morning till night! From the people who prepare the food to the people who serve it Basil, short man, ms. Clare the chefs again there are so many names and again I’m sorry if I didn’t mention you, butyou are just as important. I love you all…you keep my belly full with delicious options. And of course, to housekeeping and everybody who keeps the grounds immaculate thank you for all your hard work.. in closing…. I just need to say thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for another great vacation. I’m already planning to come back next year!   Amazing resort in Jamaica

  We are currently here for a 2 week vacation until April 18th. I want to first say I was skeptical about this resort because there was a lot of mixed reviews. I am extremely happy to say the negative reviews were completely wrong. The staff is absolutely amazing. Everything is amazing. From the moment we landed at the airport we experienced nothing but positive energy and helpfulness. As soon as we arrived at the resort we were handed champagne. The check in process was quick and easy. Huge took us to our room hours early. He is absolutely amazing. Every morning we see him he remembers us by our name. The rooms are clean and big. We have a first floor garden view. Some reviews were complaining about bugs in the rooms. We have only encountered 1 bug and I killed it. Big deal you’re in the tropics and that is part of life. The resort is the perfect size. Small and not over crowded. You never have trouble finding a place on the beach or by the pool. There are 3 total Rui resorts connected on this stretch of beach. The Riu palace, Riu Reggie, and Riu Montego Bay. If you stay at the palace all inclusive adults only you have access to the other 2 resorts. If you stay at Riu Reggie or Riu Montego Bay you can only go to those 2 resorts. The palace, where we are is more of a relaxed and a chill resort with still fun activities. The other 2 are more for a party atmosphere. I highly recommend staying at any of these 3. The palace is clean and the staff is constantly making sure everything is clean. The airport is very close by so it’s cool to see the airplanes fly over head. If you are worried about the noise from them don’t worry you cannot hear them in the rooms. The food at every place we have eaten at is amazing and has a wide variety of choices. There are 4 restaurants that require a reservation. They only take reservations 3 days out. So be prepared to eat at the main buffet for the first day. We had no trouble making reservations for our second night. We have eaten at the Italian restaurant so far and the main buffet. The food at the Italian was amazing. The steakhouse and Asian fill up fast so be sure to book as soon as you can when the next day hits. Just a heads up though the main courses at each restaurant you have to reserve only have a few options. In the main buffet Jamal is one of the best waiters. Knows us by first name. Sits us infront of people because we request his tables. There is so many different options for food at the buffet. We honestly wouldn’t mind eating here the whole time if we had to. We have never had an issue getting drinks. They are not watered down like some other reviews state. And if you feel that they are grab a shot! There is plenty of waiters and waitresses around the pool and beach to keep your drinks full. ***Please if you come bring money to tip your drivers, house keeping, room service, bar tenders, waiters, and waitresses. I am shocked at how many people are not tipping here.*** To me it’s very rude considering how much attention the whole staff at the resort goes out of their way to make sure your stay is absolutely amazing! The beach is absolutely stunning! Turquoise blue waters. Plenty of beach space with White sand. There are vendors that come up on kayaks. I don’t mind them because they have many souvenirs and other things you may want to make your experience more enjoyable while you are here! Wink! I have been to many countries that have all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. This one is my absolute favorite. And it mostly has to do with the staff and the attention they pay to you to match sure your stay is absolutely amazing.

  Great fun, good blend of lively and more chilled activities.

  We travelled from the UK to spend 2 weeks at this hotel 22 March to 5 April 2026. There were 4 of us, myself and husband and our two adult sons (25/27). I was s bit concerned that my two sons would find the hotel a bit boring, my second concern was aeroplane noise from the very close airport . I should not have worried, the entertainment team of Genius, Dinero, Astro, Stringbean, Chocolade, and DJ Unstoppable are fantastic and my sons (stage name Marty and Caesar) had a fantastic time, entering into the games and quizzes and loving the pool foam party, beach party, Neon and White party. Food was lovely, and a lot of choice. We liked Zen and the Steakhouse especially. Rooms were spotless and well equipped, maybe a bit dated. We particularly liked the fact the hotel is quite small, so you recognise other guests and get to know the entertainment tram. Wednesday afternoon foam party was fun and we also attended d the Neon and white parties. Marty also sailed. Overall a fantastic holiday

  Jamaica - Rui Palace - Montego Bay

  Cannot fault this hotel, all staff amazing especially the entertainment crew. Room was beautiful, kept very clean, mini bar regularly topped up, drinks were all premium. Food excellent, we didn't rate the specialty restaurants other than the Steak restaurant but that's just our opinion. Pools were fabulous didn't need to move to get a drink staff were coming around frequently. Its much smaller resort than any previous Riu we jave stayed in, which we preferred. Nothing was more than a 2 minute walk away. The hotel is closing for a refurb in August, it was in need of a freshen up, but not awful at all. We booked through Tui, flights were great & comfortable. We would 100% recommend this hotel.
